Fairy Meadows Travel Guide: Jeep Fare, Trekking Route, Hotels and Total Cost
Famously referred to as heaven on earth, Fairy Meadows is a mesmerizing alpine pasture located at the foothills of the mighty Nanga Parbat (the 9th highest mountain in the world and famously known as the "Killer Mountain") in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan. Overlooking raw glaciers and striking wilderness, it offers one of the most thrilling adventure journeys in Pakistan.
This complete Tourism Bazar travel guide covers everything you need to know about planning your trip.
1. Jeep Fare and Transportation
The journey to Fairy Meadows is a thrilling multi-step experience:
Reaching Raikot Bridge: Accessible by road via the Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Islamabad (approx. 11–13 hours).
The 4x4 Jeep Track: From Raikot Bridge, civilian cars are not allowed due to the dangerous terrain. You must switch to a local 4x4 jeep for a rugged, adrenaline-pumping 2-hour ride to Tattu (Tattoo) Village.
Jeep Fare: A round-trip jeep rental typically costs around PKR 15,000 to 18,000. Since each jeep comfortably accommodates 5 to 6 passengers, you can share the fare if traveling in a group.
Alternative to Trekking (Horseback): From Tattu Village onward, if you prefer not to hike the 3-to-4-hour trail to Fairy Meadows, you can hire a horse for roughly PKR 3,500 to 5,000 for a round trip.
2. The Trekking Route
Tattu Village to Fairy Meadows: The actual trek begins once the jeep drops you off at Tattu Village. It is a 3-to-4-hour moderately steep uphill hike through pine forests and mountain ridges. While challenging, it is manageable for anyone with basic physical fitness.
Fairy Meadows to Beyal Camp: A relatively easy 2-hour walk (one way) from the main meadows, taking you deeper into the valley toward stunning glacier views.
Beyal Camp to Nanga Parbat Base Camp: For hardcore adventure seekers, this is a more demanding 3-to-4-hour trek (one way) crossing the rocky Raikot Glacier right up to the literal base of the massive Nanga Parbat north face (elevation around 3,500 to 4,000+ meters).
3. Accommodation & Hotels
Fairy Meadows features a range of lodging styles, from cozy wooden cottages to traditional campsite tents:
Standard Wooden Cottages & Campsites: Fairy Meadows View Point and Broad View Hotel offer cozy rooms or camping spaces ranging from PKR 7,000 to 10,000 per night.
Deluxe Resorts: Properties like Fairy Meadows Cottages, Emerald Resort, and the iconic Raikot Sarai provide premium wooden huts, scenic garden areas, and comfortable bedding, with rates ranging from PKR 11,000 to 18,000 per night.
4. Total Estimated Tour Cost (Per Person)
Budget / Backpacker Style: PKR 18,000 to 28,000 (Using shared transport/vans, sharing jeep fares, staying in basic campsite tents or budget huts, and eating local food).
Comfort / Group Package Style: PKR 35,000 to 55,000 (All-inclusive group tours departing from Islamabad/Lahore, covering standard hotel stays, shared jeeps, and basic guide services).
Private / Luxury Style: PKR 70,000 to 95,000+ (Private vehicle transport to Raikot, dedicated luxury cottages like Raikot Sarai, personal guide, and customized itineraries).
Pro-Tip for Travelers: Pack light! Carrying heavy luggage up the 3-hour trek from Tattu Village is exhausting. Leave your main bags in your vehicle at Raikot Bridge and carry only a light backpack with warm clothes, sturdy trekking shoes, and essentials.
